Are you really ready for construction? Read this checklist first…

  1. Create regularly scheduled brief meetings with contractor. Take notes, get a schedule.
  2. Get your ducks in a row: plan for temporary storage, debris removal, parking, bathroom use, contractor storage on site.
  3. Staying or leaving during construction? Make sure everyone knows: neighbors, friends, relatives, etc.
  4. Make sure everyone including contractors, schools, veterinarians, doctors has eachother’s contacts (including temporary contacts and addresses)
  5. Arrangements should be made if utilities and services (i.e. maintenance) are temporarily discontinued or re-assigned.
  6. Check with your insurance agent about related construction converage.
  7. Jobsite behavior: will you allow radios? smoking? When are regular work hours for your town? Parking?
  8. Buy your “owner-provided items” in a timely manner.
